Own watercolour events
During my journey through the realm of watercolours, I attended numerous events on the subject of watercolour painting and discovered many interesting forms.
Here is a brief overview of some exciting forms of watercolour painting :)
Plein Air (Open-Air painting)
Plein Air (Open-Air painting)
Plein Air generally refers to open-air painting, where you paint in nature or in the city – in other words, outdoors. Unlike painting in a studio, the moment is the decisive element in Plein Air painting.
Light and shadow are constantly changing. Animals or people enter the scene and moods shift. This is what distinguishes plein air painting.
Plein air painting also poses a special challenge in terms of materials. In contrast to watercolour painting, which takes place in a studio, plein air painting requires a mobile palette of materials, enabling you to easily transport pencils, paper, paints, water and other items from one place to another. A truly exciting field :)
So far, I have had the opportunity to participate in one plein air course. It took place on 25 July 2025 in Hamburg's Karolinenviertel district and resulted in the accompanying picture of a building in the Karolinenviertel.
